Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative:
Urban Anthropology Inc. is a Healthy Neighborhoods organization through support from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the City of Milwaukee.
There are currently eight Milwaukee healthy neighborhoods: Lincoln Village/Baran Park, Thurston Woods, Sherman Park, Martin Drive, Layton Boulevard West Neighbors, Johnson’s Park, Havenwoods, and Capital Heights. Organizations in each of these mid-market Milwaukee neighborhoods work to stabilize local real estate, encourage investment, connect neighbors to resources and to one another, and improve the overall image of their areas.
Lincoln Village/Baran Park (the Park Neighborhoods) programming includes networking with Milwaukee’s creative class to encourage and foster a neighborhood arts community, reaching out to homebuyers and renters and offering real estate tours, highlighting the history and culture of the neighborhoods through tours and youth activities, and offering matching grants for residents improving their properties. You can find more information about UrbAn’s Healthy Neighborhoods programming under the "Park Neighborhoods" tab.
