Park Neighborhoods' Totem Poles

Residents of the Park Neighborhoods met in September of 2013 to advise the South Side Artist Guild members on the creation of new art to replace the existing youth art pillars. The ceramic tiles designed by area youth were deteriorating due to the weather and a decision was made to put new artwork in place of the tiles.  The existing structures were used and artwork was desiged for the two three-sided structures. New artwork was created in the form of totem pole images with tiers representing the ethnic groups that settled the area, including (in this order) the American Indians, Poles, Germans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and African Americans.
